John’s Back!!!!

It’s true! You may have noticed that, since August of 2023, John McAllister had not been performing with PettyBreakers. John suffered a major injury that kept him sidelined for about a year. It was the evening of Thursday, August 10, 2023, the night before we were scheduled to begin a three show run in Eastvale CA; Walnut Grove CA and Lake Tahoe NV, when we got the call that he had been hospitalized and was not going to be able to perform. At this point, we won’t get into the details of John’s injury but, if you make it to a PettyBreakers show, I’m sure that, if you buy him a drink after the show, he’ll gladly share the details with you - but, if you buy the rest of the guys in the band a drink, I’m sure they’ll tell you the REAL story - you see, John, likes to embellish… :-) JK

So… where were we…? Oh, yeah! So we made a few calls and we managed to pull off those three shows with the help of our good friend, Severo Jornacion (bassist extraordinaire of the Smithereens). See, Severo is not only a phenomenal bass player but he’s quite the guitarist (he and Ozzie both played guitar in bands together all up and down the Sunset Strip and throughout the SouthWest back in day). And since Severo subs on bass for us from time to time, he’s very familiar with our set list. After that three day run, we were able to juggle the the dates for the next year with the help of some other fantastic guitarists (Joshua Taylor, Andrew McKeag and Dan Brown, Jr. - if you haven’t heard these guys play, we highly encourage you to google them and then go check them out if you can!). We are very grateful for their help during this past year!

Fast forward to August of 2024. John performs his first show with PettyBreakers on August 17 at Southern KY Performing Arts Center in Bowling Green, KY a year and a week after his injury! He has now played his sixth show with us since his comeback, his seventh coming up in Encinitas CA next weekend (October 5th). He continues to gain strength in his left hand so you may see us modifying a few things (John playing some “Tom” guitar parts and Ozzie playing some “Mike” guitar parts while John continues his recovery). We’re just thrilled to have John back, he’s thrilled to be back, and we’re sure our fans are, too!

We’re truly grateful to all who have encouraged, and continue to encourage John in his comeback. And we’re also very grateful to the gentlemen mentioned above for lending their talent during John’s recovery.

Oh! And, BTW, Severo will be joining us this upcoming weekend at our Encinitas show (October 5th) on bass while Danny takes a much deserved break and takes care of things back in his home town of Pittsburgh PA!

Thank you all - always - for your continued support. We look forward to seeing you all somewhere on down the road! God Bless!
